Prince Charles’ plan for the monarchy reportedly doesn’t include his brother, Prince Andrew.

According to Netflix’s documentary “The Royal House of Windsor,” the Prince of Wales had an unconventional plan for the monarchy and this was evident at the balcony of Buckingham Palace when the royal family celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Unfortunately, the Duke of York wasn’t included in Prince Charles’ plans.

Six senior members of the royal family were photographed together during the event. Prince Philip was absent due to a bladder infection.

Prince Charles’ vision of “magnificent seven” reportedly included Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William, Prince Harry, Prince Philip, Camilla Parker Bowles and Kate Middleton. Sarah Ferguson’s ex is apparently not included because he is a liability, which led to his nicknames “Randy Andy” and “Air Miles Andy.”

“He has been a liability to the Royal Family,” royal correspondent Katie Nicholl explained (as quoted by Express).

“Charles wanted a slimmed-down, value for money monarchy, with no embarrassing hangers-on,” the narrator read. “This is Charles wanting to secure the longevity and future of the House of Windsor.”

Unfortunately, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice‘s dad didn’t take this well. While Prince Charles wanted to trim down monarchy into his direct line, the Duke of York believes that after Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, he and his daughters should have a position, too.

“Prince Andrew thinks that when the Duke dies and the Queen winds down, there should be a greater role for him and his girls,” royal expert Phil Dampier said. “This is a bit of a power struggle, which Charles won’t be happy about.”

The footage revealed that the Duke of York was afraid that his daughters would be sidelined. In fact, he reportedly wrote a letter to the monarch insisting that Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice must keep their royal status. He also wanted them to work for the monarchy and be paid from the public purse.

Queen Elizabeth II denied Prince Andrew’s request. They were stripped from their 24-hours police protection that was funded by the taxpayer to lower the monarchy cost.

This infuriated Prince Andrew. But he eventually accepted his defeat and took it on Twitter. He wrote that his daughters are “modern, working young women who happen to be members of the royal family.”
